Post 4: Futuristic Vision of Advertising

Technology has developed immensely over the years, and guaranteed it will continue to grow in years to come. Advertising has also grown over the years, and you are continuing to see more and more advertisements everywhere you go. My prediction is that in the future, advertisements will be anywhere there is a surface. Everything will be all about money and buying and selling, therefore advertising agencies will pay lots of money to get their advertisements on pretty much any surface, including food substances such as eggs and bread, clothing, and even on animals backs, as shown in the image of the sheep.

Another prediction is advertising on sky projectors. There are already sky writers and blimps, but my prediction is that there will be giant light projections in the sky for different advertisements so when people look up into the sky they see different commercials or advertisements. I also believe that advertising will spread to nature. My prediction is that there will be advertisements in the grass, on leaves and on the trunks of trees. It won’t affect nature or harm it in any way, but it will allow advertisers to continue to communicate with the public. Apryl Duncan from about.com wrote an article regarding interactive TV and web TV. Interactive TV is a way for advertisers to still communicate with the public and offer special deals and discounts, but at the same time give them the option to turn down the advertiser’s offer. Advertisers are trying to come up with this idea and get it running because they believe it will be very effective and the public will enjoy having control over the offers. Web TV involves video banner ads, so that when you click on the banner a full screen commercial shows on your computer and directly connects you to the advertiser’s site. Also, special offers and bonus discounts will be offered to the viewer. Technology will advance considerably in years to come, and the field of advertising will definitely change along with it.
